Sprig Toys is back on the blog just in time for the Holidays!
The Thanksgiving holiday, in theory, is supposed to invoke great appreciation for all the blessings in our lives. However, many of us forget this message and get caught up in a whirlwind of organizing, baking, cooking, decorating, and then of course cleaning it all up and starting again for Christmas! Let this be the year where this message is not lost. Take the time to stop and smell the roses – or in this case – the pumpkin pie!
Although most children go over the history of Thanksgiving in school, it would be great to review at home, before or after their school festivities. Tell them the story and ask them what they think Thanksgiving really means. Tell them what you are most thankful for and ask them what they are most thankful for. Depending on their age, you may get replies such as their family, pets, or toys. It may be nice to ask them to take a look at all their toys and remind them that not every child is as lucky as them to have toys! This is also a great way to get them interested in a toy drive for the Holiday season (Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, and many more).
It would also be fun to include your children in the cooking process of Thanksgiving before all the chaos of the actual day arrives. Choose a fun and festive dish (like these chocolate chip pumpkin muffins http://whatsgabycooking.com/chocolate-chip-pumpkin-muffins/).
We hope this inspires you to stop and think about what Thanksgiving means to you and your family. This Thanksgiving Sprig Toys is thankful for our beautiful planet earth and by using recycled materials in our toys, we help preserve its integrity so our children will have many more reasons to be thankful in the future. Happy Holidays!
