Why we are supporting #LunchRevolution and why you should too

This week, we will be at the #Lunch Revolution Twitter party on Friday, August 27th at 9pm EST.  Please join us.

Why, you may ask, does a toy company get involved with a food revolution?  Our company was founded upon the idea that we needed to get kids up off of the couch and out playing again.  It is the reason why we wrote several blogs this summer on Low Cost Summer Activities, most of which didn’t promote our product even in the slightest.  We are facing a national epidemic people and it’s obesity.  We can prevent our children from having a lower life expectancy than we face by changing our behavior and our eating habits.  In Jamie Oliver’s Platform for Change he states: “America has the biggest obesity problem in the world but it’s a global problem and Britain isn’t far behind. It causes bad health which shortens lives, and leaves families grieving for loved ones.  Obesity affects one in five children.  Their future is likely to involve heart disease, diabetes and immobility.”

At Sprig, we will continue to encourage kids to get up off the couch and get active, but activity is just one part of the puzzle… so we wholeheartedly support the efforts of Fed Up with Lunch and the #lunchrevolution.  Join us this Friday for the twitter party, or stop by their website: http://fedupwithschoollunch.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-to-school-blog-and-twitter-party.html.  We will be talking about revolutionizing your child’s lunch and I’m told there is even a small possibility that Jamie Oliver himself might stop by.  On top of all of the great lunch ideas, there will be giveaways too, including a Sprig toy!

So get up off the couch and join us Friday, see you there!
